9:00 - 10:30 a.m. with Michelle Akler, MD, CIYT

Michelle has been studying Iyengar yoga with her mentor Chris Briney since 2012. What began as a dabbling in yoga to help heal an injured hip became a passion that evolved into daily home practice coupled with attending regular classes and workshops with senior teachers Lois Steinberg and Abhijhata Iyengar. She became certified as a Level 1 CIYT in November 2021 and enjoys sharing her love of Iyengar yoga with her students.

Michelle is also an ophthalmologist in private practice in Dearborn, Michigan and a founding member of EyeConnect International, a peer-to-peer online platform for eye surgeons. She has traveled on medical missions to Kenya to provide sight-saving cataract surgery to an underserved population.

Michelle’s teaching is rigorous, enthusiastic and joyful and she is thrilled to join Chris at the Center teaching Level 1 and all-levels classes.
