A Yogic and Musical Celebration of the Return to Light
A Yogic and Musical Celebration of the Return to Light
This event will culminate the traditional yogic, lunar month of Margazhi. Margazhi is a month that is very important in yogic culture as it is a time when one’s spiritual practices can be deepened, stabilized, and brought toward a peak of efficacy. This event will feature a short (approximately one hour) yoga class, the practice of kirtan (chanting and singing of sacred sounds), and musical performances by CFIY director, Christopher Briney and Alexander Vlachos, also known as Greater Alexander.
Christopher Briney has been a musician since a young age, and a singer songwriter for most of his adult life. In recent years, he has written and performed numerous original and cover songs and continues to explore this dimension of creativity and its intersections with yoga.
Alexander Vlachos started using the moniker Greater Alexander as a way of creatively expressing the greater part of himself through the medium of a sonic musical landscape.
Greater Alexander was born in New York, raised in Greece and is currently residing in Greater Detroit.
